Frequently asked questions.
Are you taking new clients?
Yes! I’m offering in-person therapy in Oakland, and virtual therapy to all CA residents through the Center for Mindful Psychotherapy.
What are your fees?
For individuals, I charge $180 for a 50-minute session. For relationships and families, I charge $200 for a 60 minute session, and $250 for a 75-minute session. I have limited sliding scale spots available for people who cannot afford these rates — please contact me directly to inquire about this.
Do you take insurance?
I do not accept insurance. However, if your insurance plan covers out-of-network reimbursements of any kind, I can provide you with a superbill or monthly statements to be submitted to your insurance provider. Prior to working together, please contact your insurance provider to see if they accept or cover out-of-network therapists.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask that clients give 48 hours notice when cancelling a session; otherwise they will be charged the full fee for the session.
How often will we meet?
Due to the style of therapy that I practice, I only work with clients on a weekly basis. After some time working together (this varies, but is always at least 6 months), we may decide to meet every-other week or on an as-needed basis.
What are the benefits of therapy?
My clients have shared that they have experienced the following benefits through therapy:
Reduced anxiety and a greater ability to be present
Improved emotional awareness and emotional control
More transparent communication and firmer boundaries, leading to more intimate and satisfying relationships
A greater understanding of how their childhood contributed to who they are today, and a stronger acceptance of themselves
How long does therapy take?
The short answer is that it depends. My approach is to assess progress at intervals throughout the course of therapy, and come to a joint decision to pause or end. I see therapy as the development of mental and emotional muscles — the more you work them, the more stamina you build up, and the less likely you are to experience a crisis and get injured in your day-to-day life. Most folks see tangible benefits within six months of working together, and some mental health challenges can take years to uncover and work through.
